Things to think about today as we continue this journey of Advent. John proclaimed the words of Isaiah, “Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth.”
Today as you spend the day in what ever way that might be, church, shopping, with family, working… think about those low places in your life, the valleys to be filled, and the mountains or burdens that seem like mountains that need to made low, and also the crooked or rough paths you might be on hoping they will be made smooth, and ask your self, where is your hope? Where do you place your positive energy in times of stress? Where do you go to get strength during the turbulent times?
The next line John shares is clear, “all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” Our hope during Advent and all year, comes wrapped up in the promise of God, it comes wrapped up in the very fact that God, keeps God’s promises, and we know we are not just waiting for the birth incarnate but that the birth has come and Jesus lived a life and experienced a death of mortal proportions so that we might live, so our paths would be made straight, so our mountains worries would be made low and our pits of despair would be filled with grace and love.
Just think about that.
